    ]]>     If a tuning measure has achieved a significant increase in performance and thus speed, the original transmission ratio often improves acceleration performance in particular, while the top speed only increases slightly. As a lot of driving is done at high speed, the Engine is often running at its limit. This means more stress and more wear on the Crankshaft, Bearing and Piston.

     

    With a longer gear ratio, the same top speed can be achieved at a lower – and therefore more engine-friendly – engine speed. At the same time, a higher top speed is possible and overspeeding of the Engine downhill is prevented. Any loss of acceleration can then be compensated for by retuning the variator: Select slightly lighter rollers and set the Clutch harder.
